must be one of the best places to view aicraft from in comfort in Europe, the wife caught onto the fact that I always booked flights that meant a 5 hour stop over here after the 3rd year of doing it ;D

Can you see most of the airport's movements from this cafe? I ask because I've always fancied going to Madrid

Hi, from what I can remember the cafe is in the domestic arrival/departure area, I believe you actually need a valid airline ticket to get through to the cafe, once there however about 90% of movements can be seen and also anything coming in and out of the Iberia hangars, perhaps pwhighfield could confirm this is still the position as I havn't been there for around 5 years now

You did not need a ticket or an airside pass to go to the cafe. It was located landside and open to anyone. However I understand that it has recently been renovated and is now a more up market restaurant. In the past you could stay all day but I guess that it is different now. I believe that you can still view from the corridor next to the cafe but with recent terminal changes and new runways opening I believe that the best location is now the "Mound" which is located between the terminals near to Barajas Metro station which is one stop away from the airport.
